Dig Safely
Underground power lines and other utilities run under streets and sidewalks as well as under yards and homes. Accidentally digging into these lines could cause an electrical shock hazard and disrupt electrical service in the neighbourhood. Damage to an underground power line could even result in electrocution.
To request that buried utilities on your property be located and marked, submit a request online anytime at Ontario One Call or call 1-877-372-7233 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). This free service makes sure underground power lines and other utilities are clearly marked so people can dig a safe distance away from them. Whether you are planning to do it yourself or hire a professional, contact Ontario One Call at least five business days before digging begins. Any job requires this, even planting a tree!
How Ontario One Call Works
Ontario One Call will notify all of the owners of buried infrastructure near the digging area. Within a few days, a worker from each utility will mark the location of each buried utility line so you can dig a safe distance away.
